Interesting 2S bid by West. Not sure that I don't approve. But not the point of the post.

2D is described as "biddable D; 6+ total points". I am pretty sure that the explanation is deficient here, in placing no upper limit on North's strength. I am pretty sure that North did not intend the bid to be forcing (willing to be corrected, mind, especially in light of what follows).

3D is described as "5+ D; 6+ total points; forcing to 3N". FORCING TO 3N???

Anyway I decided to take a fly at 5D. According to the above explanations 4D is passable, and as it happens 5D is a respectable spot.

6D is then described as "5+D; 11+ total points". Eh? So how, systemically am I supposed to get to, and stop in, 5D?

Gib does this a lot on raising limited 3m to bids to 5m bids. Needs more flags in the database that 3m - 5m, if 3m is limited, is *not* an invitation to slam, that it should pass if it has limited itself previously.

2 was the bid showed NS are forced to game.

3 just carried it.

2 had some interesting meaning like T/O double and more strength added to +. It wasn't natural. Just strength.

Raising 3 to 5 or 3 to 4 ( assuming in both cases we are in GF auction ) will be addressed.

Meanwhile reason why GIB raised was the fact, 3->5 shows max while 3->4 inquires and not showing yet max. Looks logically to be reversed and it was fixed after 1NT - minor stayman and opener behavior to complete the 5minor, but would be revised for general 3-5 case.

Ah thanks. That clarifies matters. Part of the remaining problem seems to stem from the fact that 2H is forcing I think to 3N, not to game.

Also I may have added to the problem by opening 1C rather than 1D.
