Yes, "ae degrees a-with-circle umlaut a-umlaut degrees degrees" is Chinese for "GIB". They normally just call it "ae" for short :)

First one it's not clear whether E should pass 4S or W should pass 5D. At any rate E should pass 5S.

Second one - meh, it happens

Third one - I prefer 2NT with West instead of X, at any rate 3H is silly.

Fourth - 2H? why not 1S? Surely after a support X/XX 2H should show a fit, i.e. 5 cards.

Fifth - 3H????? (add more question marks if you like) What on earth is wrong with 3NT?

The last one - I almost sympathise with West. He is a bit stuck, not being strong enough for 2D or 2S, can't bid 2NT (no diamond stop), 3C sounds wimpish. I guess he should just raise to 3C - wonder how the bot interprets that.
