For people who can't quite see themselves signing up for the Mars Mission, there is an outfit which is crowdsourcing funds for a telescope in space. Among other things, if you donate you can beam your photo out into the galaxy!. A bargain at only a buck... if you want to have your photo beamed into space, that is. I'll keep my buck but they've already got 1300+ people who seem to like the idea.

Saw a picture today from the Mars rover. Some people seem to think it's some kind of Martian rat, some think it's just a rock. Me, I'm kind of hoping for the rat, but if I had to bet, I'd bet on the rock.

The Huffington Post article has a poll. Incredibly, 28% of responses think it's definitely a rodent.

there will always be a certain %age of nonsense answers in polls. I recall that 20% of all Dutch computer users believe the computer crashes deliberately in order to tease the user. And a remarkable number of british teenage girls believed that taking a shower after sex is an effective contraceptive.

Everyone knows that the office copying machines have a stress detector, and that the likelihood of a malfunction is directly proportional to the amount of stress of the user. I would not be surprised if my desktop computer had a similar stress detector.

Huh. I spent three years in England and never heard that. Guess I was lucky I didn't indulge. :P

Somebody ran a poll that I can't remember and it cost 50c a pop to text your response. Nearly 20% spent 1/2 a buck to say "I don't know".
