The credit goes to South. He guessed correctly this time that the partnership was not missing both major suit Aces, and couldn't find out since the auction was at 5C before he even knew what trumps should be.
4H, a suit partner could not hold seemed to be his only choice over 3S, but it gobbled up more space. A 3C (edited) response to start with would probably have been more efficient than the knee-jerk 2NT.

4H is poor, it should be 6-5 to suggest playing hearts as partner has (typically) denied 4 hearts to bid 2N. Much better would be double.

But the director would have come, and North would have had to make his bid sufficient at 3♣, which eats up even more space.

I'd have bid 3♣ rather than 2N (but is no brainer for me as 2N is diamond raise). I'm with JLOGIC on X rather than 4♥. As bid shouldn't 5♣ be a cue agreeing partner's 5 card heart suit (yes I know you know it isn't holding ♣AK, but in theory ...)
So the best bid (the one with no blame attached) is 1♦

1d flawless and as such earns S 100% of the credit.
2n KQx Qxx xxx Qxxx is a 2n bid might i suggest the current
hand is too strong for such a minimalist action and the
complete lack of a heart stop (and doubleton) should keep
N from bidding 3n IMO best here is 3c.
4h P would surely have neg x over 2s if they had 4 hearts so this
call should promise at least 5 hearts and longer stronger
diamonds. IMO the best bid here is X to show extra values
netting somewhere btn 500 and 800 if p leaves it in.
5c showing this cruddy 6 card suit here into what should be a
56 misfit doens't compute. IMO 4n to play would now be a
reasonable choice (can the 2n bidder really be slamming?)
If you are too worried about 4n being taken as blackwood then
how about 5d.
6c IMO this was just adrenaline or testoterone gone haywire. If
p has anything remotely similar to a 2n bid what possible
chance do we have for slam?? IMO PASS and discuss the
bidding later.

If NS are in "beginner/novice" category, i would give credit to both of them. But if they are anywhere above this level, the whole bidding (except than 1♦ opening) including the first pass by N, was awful imo.
