1=4=4=4

Poll: 1N or 2C? (26 member(s) have cast votes)

In general, what do you rebid with a 1=4=4=4 12-14?

  1. I almost always rebid 1N (16 votes [61.54%])

    Percentage of vote: 61.54%

  2. I have no set preference, and might rebid 1N or 2C based on the nature of my hand (poor clubs / singleton spade honor / poor hearts) (6 votes [23.08%])

    Percentage of vote: 23.08%

  3. I almost always rebid 2C (4 votes [15.38%])

    Percentage of vote: 15.38%

2/1, nothing special. 4-4 hands in the minors are opened 1.

Assume a 12-14 range hand.

When is it Ok to rebid 1N on this pattern and when is it better to rebid 2.

I'm more inclined to bid 1N in MP and 2C in Teams I think.

1NT for me. This is much more accepted than opening 1NT on a 4441.

1=4=4=4. 1-1,?

Almost always 1NT rebid. Would only rebid 2 if all the
points are in the minors.

Agree 100% -- in fact, I open 1 on these hands (playing 2 over 1 or SAYC, of course) and avoid a possibly awkward 1-2 constructive sequence, or a very probably awkward 1-(2) overcall sequence. Partner doesn't always have spades and doesn't always get to show then when he does.

I would always bid NT if partner bid spades (but support hearts !)
