I was trying to download a hand I played yesterday from MyHands and got the following error


An error occurred during a connection to www.bridgebase.com:80.
SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

Why are you using SSL on port 80?

I was wondering that myself...
I had assumed that the server had initiated a handshake or some such

It looks like this happens if you use 'https:' when going to the myhands page. The initial form display works, but when you submit the form, ":80" gets inserted into the URL. I'm not sure where this is coming from, it's not in the script itself; it uses an old PEAR PHP library, I suspect it comes from there.

There's no reason to use SSL with this page, so I don't see a need to fix it.

don't use myhands... use bridgecaptains free double dummy solver (it is probably windows only however).... You get all the hands, stored on your computer, complete with scorecard....

barmar, I use a FF plugin called HTTPS everywhere. It's pretty useful when you don't want to encrypt your home network to improve bandwidth. Anyway, I've never encountered such an issue with the MyHands page.
