I am not fond of my bidding, but certainly finding partner with neither of AQ10 was unlucky.

Anyway, supose a club lead, and clubs are 1-2 and hearts are 3-3 at least and diamonds 2-2 at least. How do you tackle spades?. East is somewhere between advanced and expert.

I don't see much chance of making this unless LHO has the Ace empty.

Cash two top hearts
Cross with a club
Ace of Diamonds, ruff a Diamond, cross with a club, Spade to the 9

I agree with Hrothgar's basic plan, but with trumps 2-1 there's no need to risk a red-suit ruff. Draw two trumps with KQ. A, AKJ, diamond ruff, cross in trumps, spade to the 9. If that wins, we still have an entry to dummy to take another spade finesse.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Eliminating is soft. I win on table and play a spade at trick two.

East does not know we are not 2245, so it's hardly irrational for him to dive in with the ace from AQxx since we could have KJ AQ AQxx KQxxx. In fact I rather expect him to fly ace. If he plays low, I play the nine, of course.

What's 1? Is it a forcing club? Is that why
pard didn't pass 2? And if 2 is stayman,
why didn't pard rebid 2?
