I give up on diamonds because I have 6 hearts. with 5H3D I would be happy to bid 2D.
double seems clever but it is usually 5H2D so it undersells my hand doubly.

Assuming that double shows hearts plus diamond tolerance, that seems right. It's true I have one more heart than I need to have, but with six highs we just do our best.
