LHO bids 1NT for the minors. Strength depends on distribution, but minimum is similar to 1-level overcall.
The only agreements with partner are:
- lowest cue: invite+ with 3c
- 2NT: invite+ with 4c
- 3: preemptive
=> 2: 3(4)c and 6-9 HCP

How do you evaluate this hand (& would you do more at IMPs)?

I pass.

Partner almost certainly has club length (no club raise by East), my diamonds are all under the person showing length in the minors, I have no aces and only 5 spades.

By the way, I don't believe that actual hand was dealt :-p

We agree with the first sentence, but could have some fun with the second.

I didn't remember the small cards, so I thought all 6 & 2 was best

It look particularly overvalued with three J which belong to soft power,I bid pass,if rebid any suit,I am afraid of final contract in danger.

The only question occurs if you are playing some type of game tries where bidding 3 by opener now is preemptive. It's then a tactical judgement whether you want to try and shut them out with 3 .

Even so, with the minor suit hand behind you, the hand that was opened has lost value, so I feel pass is right.

It seems with 4 s, responder would be more likely to bid 3 (preempt) or make an invitation with a good 9+. So, responder is more likely to have 3 and 6-9.

You've done what you could on this hand. They've got to make a decision whether to compete at the 3 level. If they make the right decision, fine they deserve the result. But sometimes it's right to give the opponents a chance to go wrong.

I would pass 2. But it seems that, no matter what game try you make, partner is not going to bid game.

Pardon me - there is one game try that you can make that will get you to game. That is 4 - bid game and try to make it.

I thought that partner was going to bid game after any gametry we would make. Shows what I know.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
