It's not clear to me what the problem is. I just think that there is a problem. Maybe it was the 2 bid?

Edit: Given the RKC response, West's initial pass of 1, and with West showing 11+ total points and South showing 15+ total points, it certainly seems more likely that West has one kc than four.

looks like 5 and 3NT go down
GIB just doesnt havent good tools for asking for aces over minor suits
even though 3 would have been my choice in pass out seat

The problem is the decision to bid 2- it should be based on 8421 points. He need 20 8421pts to cue to support a minor ie. 2Aces and a king or something like that. With the given hand 2NT (9-11 cover in both majors and diamonds support) is reasonable since 2D should not be weak hand with diamonds. East should pass- given slightly more strength in the majors with South then it would easy.
