Playing with 3 GIBs I was surprised to get the best score, to date, of 9.6 IMPs shared with one other human whose ops went off in a slam:

WvW, RHO dealt

QJ2
A4
JT8
AKT72

All the other humans opened 1 (except one who rather bizarrely passed) and ops found a game making spade fit. I opened 1NT and played in 2H making after a dbl from LHO and transfer from partner.

I was just wondering if I had missed something seeing as I was the only one to open 1NT?

Thanks in advance,

Simon

How many other people were there?

It could very well have just been a fluke.

That's a classic (15-17) 1NT opener.

Weird.

I doubt that it is very useful to compare your results and guage your sucess or failure against others on BBO as the results vary wildly,
as you can see!

If playing a few hands with a pick-up who's profile says 16-18 I'd uograde this to 1NT.

Remember this hand the next time we're talking about whether GIB is better than "the average BBOer"; 14 BBOers held your hand, and only 3 opened 1NT.

Compared to those other players, you made a superior bid and got a superior score. Justice was served.
