N/S started the defense decently enough but couldn't unravel 6 tricks. UDCA agreements for defense.

Where do you see chances for either N or S to do better? S doesn't need to play the 3rd club, it seems like, but it's not clear which red suit to switch to and on the actual lie it doesn't hurt. I was south, that's why I played the 3rd club, to let partner decide, though I know it sets up the 13th club. How clear should it be that we needed to attack both red suits, or hearts first?
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

Perhaps north could read south's 8 as suit preference? Not really sure if that applies in this situation.

When East plays the Q it is very likely from either AQ or QJ. If it is from QJ then declarer has the A and a diamond continuation is clearly fatal. If it is from AQ then North has the heart ace and an immediate heart lead will be necessary. So South should lead a heart after winning the K.

If declarer played Q from KJx AQx Qxxx Axx then a heart lets it make, but that is unlikely and maybe partner would have switched to heart, not a diamond.

Under competed, now very to-the-point defense needed.
I don't like defense when 3H makes. Cheap even 3H-1.
