In fact, isn't this the single most likely outcome of the double? When RHO and I have 10 spades and partner couldn't make a takeout double, LHO probably has spade shortness and a hand where he would have liked to bid a non-forcing 2/1.
The easiest way to count losers is to line up the people who talk about loser count, and count them. -Kieran Dyke
