Right again. Eg 1S-pass-2D is gf and promises five, 1S -pass-2C is gf and can be as short as 2 in a 3-4-4-2 pinch. etc. But I prefer partner give me room in many auctions. Partner recently suggested that after 1S-(2 D), or similar, we play 3S not exactly as preemptive but as 7-9. I asked that he allow a little room on the 7-9 since I will regard Kx in diamonds as worth more than three points. QJx, on the other hand, looks like a third round ruff their way. A constructive bid with 4+ trump and about 7-9 sounds good to me.
