There are also the ones who are new to using bidding boxes, and don't place the bidding cards so you can see all the previous bids.

That is actually on-topic with the thread title, in case anyone wanted to pick on it. It is also an item on my peeve list, along with continuing to fumble with the bid or block it from view after placing the card on the table.

Most of the times I've seen people lay down dummy upside-down it has been newbies who just don't know better; I think they sort their hands that way, and don't realize that they have to reverse the suits when laying them down.

The above-mentioned pair were the eventual winners of the event so, while not experts, I think they were experienced enough.

Sounds like he just doesn't think it matters very much, and presumably his partner has gotten used to it.

I don't think I've ever run into anyone who complained when I asked them to fix the layout when they did this.

I've seen some very experienced players (including world champions when I've been operating Vugraph) who like to lay down dummy's cards on an angle, sometimes approaching horizontal. Old, bad habits can be hard to break for even the best.

If you have a fit like AKx in slam it can be fun to say 'I hope you have good trumps partner...'.

Have played this joke on overbidding partners on numerous occasions.

When partner makes a loose preempt the trump AK and spots, I will ALWAYS sweat them and put the spots down, followed by the side suits and then lastly the trump AK.

My experience is that most players who do this do so to disconcert weak opponents.
