Nil vul, partner deals and opens 1. It's matchpoints.
RHO overcalls 2, you make a negative double (sorry, you're not playing NFB's), LHO raises to 3, partner doubles and over to you.

Is this obvious? Does the level of your opponents matter?

I don't know if it is obvious. But MY partner would have about an 18 count with something like 5-3-2-3 distribution. Will settle for 4H.

And what would he do with 15-16 ?
I think it's obvious 4H now anyway. 3H is too small a target with hand that distributional.

Open 1NT. But like I said, "My" partner. You might have a different one.

Why can't pard be 5134 16-count or something? 3H looks plenty. Pard is allowed to raise on an 18-19 NT

Because then he doesn't have a takeout double. Did you mean 5314?
