Tournaments - Ave Score and Adj

In some tournaments, occasionally your deal just disappears and you are transported to the next deal. You see 'Ave 50.0% 50.0%" in the my results tab.
I assume this happens when time runs out for a deal - is that so? Also sometimes the score later adjusted. What exactly happens here?

In Express Automated Fun tournaments, each hand has a 5-minute time limit on each hand. If 8 full tricks have not yet been completed when the 5-minute time limit expires, everyone receives "average" for the board. If 8 (or more) full tricks have been completed, then the hand is completed by robots and an adjusted score is posted based on that outcome.

Other types of tournaments have their own guidelines.
