Both Martel and Nystrom went down after the same auction and lead although they could (should) made.

North is declarer.


Lets say that East leads K followed by switch, west puts K. Bring it home!

cash 1 top trump, another club, trump to dummy, then 9 of C as a loser on loser? obv need to abandon this if trumps are 3-0.

Obviously you're hoping east has jt or 6 clubs, but i suppose you might as well discard the spade even if west wins to give him a chance to make an error (if he has the Q of D he needs to exit on one of his intermediate spades, which, admittedly, isn't going to be too difficult for players of this calibre, but you didn't mention who the opps were)

At one table it was the 8 switch and at the other it was the J. Both cards give a hint to the winning line I think.
