p had an easy opportunity to bid 2s over 2h I fail
to see why this x would ask for a spade. My tendency
would be to think p has a strong balanced hand not sure
which way to go and is merely saying I dont think they
can make 2n lead your suit. As a result I will lead a low
heart according to our agreed lead system.

spade and club keep it to +1, others are +2 (from what I remember). hand records are available publicly on bbo site.

I thought this was just a 'go ahead and lead your suit,p, they are going down' double and led a heart. thankfully declarer misplayed and we got out for +1.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Uhm yes but what would the point of that be? Even if it were natural (in fact it would have been pass or correct).

Spade and low heart keep it to +1, others are +2. For those that cannot be bothered to check, -150 for 2NT +1 would have been a tick under evens on the traveller. -590 was 9 out. Not that BBO comparisons are exactly any sort of guide to performance. The 2NT bidder had the nuts: xx/AKxxx/xxx/KJx.

Sorry, you're right. I was among those who couldn't be bothered to check. :)

I think the double says that 2NT is going down. I don't think it asks for a particular lead.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
