Why is GIB bidding 3s here instead of the normal pass?
- why does 2s say 8-10 HCP? Shouldn't it simply be 10- HCP? (I wonder if it's possible in GIB language to specify (2 sp, 10- HCP) || (3sp, 6- HCP))

- I think 3sp should be stronger, at least like 17-18 total points, and surely 6+ suit, something better than this. With more HCP, off shape (say like add K of clubs), it can bid 2nt without a d stop, IMO.

I believe I have met GIB at the club. Or was it at a tournement sometime in the past 50 years? Or was it many times?

2S ends the auction. ALWAYS.

This is an overstatement. Maybe it should end the auction if playing Precision. But in std methods, responder can easily have 8-bad 10 points. Opener can have up to 18 semi-bal. Missing 28 HCP games isn't my idea of good bidding. Opener should be able to go on with a strong roughly 17+ 54xx, 64xx, 55xx.

2s should end the auction opposite the original hand, and more often than not, but not ALWAYS.

Even a precision hand might raise at that point with 6 good spades and at least 4 hearts- a double fit doesn't need 25+ HCP+.
