King of hearts. Maybe I'm not thinking it through enough but partner having heart support makes me think this is pretty safe, and might set up tricks for our side. We might want to tap them in hearts since trumps don't break, and even a club is more dangerous imo.

Other then the very safe k the only thing I can think of is east is two suited in hearts and spades and you need to lead a trump to shorten the cross ruff. Hoping east is something like 5521 and was passing hoping to defend a heart contract but decided 2 was to cheap(even w/r) when a spade game was on the line.

Here's what I thought. Partner is cracking a freely bid game opposite a 3rd seat white opener. He must have stellar defense over the double. This might include the A, but I'm more inclined to place him with two spade cards and a club card.

I led a trump and 300 got away - he had KQx Axx xxxx xxx. Dummy had J9xx JT9 KQx AKQ.

K would be my almost automatic lead. Other than the negative double there's no indication in the auction that a crossruff exists.

Heart King looks good, but I don't find any negative doubles in the auction.
