At some tables South opened 1D. Clubs were 2-2 with King onside. Slam is too much to ask but is there a way for E-W to get to game?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the ♥3.

If I were West, I would feel eerily uncomfortable. I didn't overcall one spade so partner cannot know that I have five, the stiff heart is nice, I have the ♣AQ over the opener, and I have a side diamond fit.
If I were East, I would view my hand as mostly defensive with three spades, and some outside tricks, and a partner that might be holding some hearts.
So I think West needs to do more.

West should bid 3♠ instead of 2♠.
Imagine partner with a hand such as KQxx xxx AKxx xx. It has perfect cards but is minimum, and the doubler would pass 2♠ with quite a lot more than this since we didn't overcall.

West has a beautiful hand after South opens 1C. He can easily bid 1S initially or 3S at his second turn IMO.

West let the winewaiter pass on his cards while making a phone call. What happened to the 1S overcall?

Overcalling 1♠ isn't everyone's style, but after passing and even though 2♠ was sort of a "free bid" I think West should jump to 3♠.
