So is starting to look like a regional thing. Gnasher, mickyb, myself and `he of the vulgar name' all play in the UK, and we all favour pass here. All the NA players seem to be doubling.

My instinct is to double to avoid being stolen from, but I think the passers have the better analysis. So I pass.

In my school, we play takeouts up to 2-level only, so I will certainly double it for penalty, hoping an immediate set by cashing the aces/kings.
