It seems like a good idea to have this section, but it's located in the arse end of nowhere at the bottom of the BBO technical section. It must be pretty easy for people to miss. For an event like Mgoetze's pairs that's a bit of a problem. Can't it be refiled next to A/E or something? I realise the more tidy of mind might think its most appropriate where it is, but in the real world I don't think it is.

I join Wank on this; I didn't even know this section existed.

I think this section is fine for match scheduling/reply.
Once you know where it is its easy to slide to bottom.

I think the interesting hand discussion should be held
under the advanced/expert area for a number of reasons.

1. eliminates clutter from this area

2. placing hands in advanced/expert area
will allow for more "excitement" within bbo
for these matches.

3. the play/bidding problems have a natural "home"
in the advanced/expert section (as long as bidding
conventions used are clearly explained) and will
generally make interesting reading for all.

There's nothing that says the BBO category is just for technical issues -- for instance, "Find a Partner/Teacher" isn't technical, either. Most of the discussions in this category are technical simply because most BBO-specific issues have to do with the technology.

I suspect the main reason people didn't know about this forum is simply because it's new, and didn't get much fanfare. Maybe an announcement in the yellow bar would help.

I just posted an announcement of the forum. I'd also be willing to move it up higher in the forum list if you think that will help, but I'd like to keep it in the BBO category.

I would like to suggest just below General BBO Discussion then. I do think it would help.

I might use View New Content if there were a way to filter it to the specific forums I care about. Of course, then it wouldn't help to notice a new forum, since it wouldn't be in the list.

I believe matmat had a script (maybe he posted it about a year ago) that would filter out forums he didn't want to see in the "View New Content" button. Matmat, is this correct?

Matmat doesn't read the forum anymore I believe. Anyway, this place is just too high volume for me to read everything, so I don't use View New Content. Basically I have a priority list of forums and will check the top X of those depending on how much time I have, also sometimes something in the 5 newest threads list catches my eye.

That was my thinking when I brought it up, so I've made it so.

I predict that someone will soon post "Where did the BBO Forum Events forum go?".
