South: 30% - for doubling on junk

Agree with this and by regression with S2000. By the way, the 4S bid was also shall we say "optimistic"?

North could have had a much stronger hand and you could still have no chance as East-West have a double fit in diamonds and spades. South for doubling with a hand unsuitable for a penalty double.

South's mistake was trusting partner to have his bid!!!!!

However, S also dropped the ball, imo. He didn't listen to the auction.
His hand told him that at least one of the other 3 players was ovebidding significantly. That suggests shape is a factor...and he has an anti-defensive spade holding....it doesn't get much worse than Qx, since the other side is bidding to game without the Q, so have compensating values, such a a 7th spade. He has Kxx in hearts....and if his partner has stretched to bid, then he will often hold 6+ hearts, so the Kxx is not good defensively.
He has 7 clubs, and (again) if partner is stretching to bid it may be because he has a club fit, so the AK are not great defensively.
I'd rather bid 5♣ with the S hand than double. My hand, on the auction, is mostly offence, altho the Qx spades is simply a global negative. I am not saying I would bid 5♣: having seen the hand, it is tough to be objective....if I did make the call, dummy would be more than a little disappointing.
