White vs Red, again; you hold:

K Q J 6 5 4 3
9
---
A 8 7 5 3

RHO deals and opens 1.

What's your plan?

I've had some success by walking the dog on reversed vul but would blast 4 here as my opps never think my hand can be this good.

My plan is to bid 4. I do not intend to take any further action unless something very unusual occurs.

I don't like 4S as I need little from partner to make slam viable. On the other hand, I don't have enough defense to double. My heart shortness suggests that this will not pass out after I overcall 1S, so I'll start with that.

While I could miss a slam once in a while, this feels like a preempt to me with 1 red card and the opps having opened so I'll shoot out 4.

If you had a gadget (2NT, dont ask why) that shows spades & another with a shapely 4 losers or better hand, would you use it? I'd probably try that, keeping slam options open. Without that I'm just bidding 4 spades, but I would bid 4 spades here on a significantly worse hand (e.g. without the A of clubs), so I'm not sure that is really a good idea.

4, I play around with bbo hand generator and rarely see the hands you're side has slam. X can cause you lots of trouble if partner has suit(quite often). I think it's important to preempt opp on distribution hand so I still prefer 4 than 1

This is too good for 4S. I bid 2NT to show a strong two suited hand. Not playing this, ie opposite a random pd I will bid 4S, but would bid again over 5D.

I think more good than bad things will happen by overcalling 4S. At matchpoints I think it is standout, at IMPs I would bid it as well.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

4. I have a very good hand for this action at these colors.

The real problem comes on the next round.
