1:2
2:3
3

Playing a style of 2/1 where openers 2 bid promises 5+ , 3 now guarantees 6+.

Does 3 establish trump?

If 3 does not establish trump how can responder agree spades and show slam interest without
jumping to KC ?

By bidding a suit at 4 level that can not be natural due to responders lack of bidding it previous round such as 4, or by bidding a suit that opener can not have due to openers lack of showing it earlier, such as 4.

Remember that responder will not have 3 cards in this auction, at most Hx or stiff honor. Thats still a very good support though when someone bids a suit 3 times by himself.

3 doesnt set trumps by the way. He is expected to pass if we bid 3 NT for example, or he could have choosed to bid 1,2,4.

So a new suit at the 4 level is a cue bid in support of spades?

And 1:2 2:3 3:3 is a cue in support of hearts?

Yes to first question, for me.

No to 2nd question, not the ones below 3 NT, the ones below 3 NT can be investigation for 3NT (such as lack of hcps or short in , however if u bid 3 and then lift pd's 3NT anyway, then now pd knows 3 was meant for something else, which u and ur pd needs to discuss.

Hmm, time to extend my 4C/4D slam convention thingy? I hate these kinds of sequences.

4C/4H should definitely be non-natural - hard to suggest what they could mean though. In absence of prior agreement, I'd take them as a cuebid in support of spades. As for 4D though... not sure.

What MrAce said, very useful to have this discussed with your partner.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
