Due to limitations on the number of poll questions, I have split the categories into two threads. Don't forget to vote in part #2!

After considering cherdano's request to include a "none of the above" option in each category, I ultimately decided not to do so. It's important to me that this is a recognition of positive contributions to these forums; I am hopeful that everyone will find at least one worthy choice for each award. I hope this omission doesn't prevent anyone from participation, and as this is a work in progress, I will revisit this issue (along with other things such as the number of awards and specific categories) next year.

I have removed two categories from the poll: "Individual Post of the Year" and "Best Signature". Neither garnered sufficient nominations before the deadline. I don't really care about the latter, since it was a non-serious award anyway, but I really hope that there are lots of nominations for "Individual Post" next year. I realize that a lot of great posts from earlier in the year get lost/forgotten, and it's a lot of work to track them down later even if they are remembered; so, with that in mind, I will create a "2012 nomination thread" that can serve as a place to record nominations throughout the year while they are still fresh in the mind. When next December rolls around, I will start to sort the nominations so people can revisit outstanding posts/threads that they may have overlooked or forgotten.

EDIT: Links to the threads listed above are here.

FURTHER EDIT: Part 2 of the voting thread is here. Voting will remain open until FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, at 12:00 midnight EST.

I'd prefer if there was an option for "no vote". I don't want to vote for myself and I do want to vote on the other two questions :)

Yeah, please give us a "none of the above" option.

Can we pin / file posts nominated throughout the year?

I guess Dave can just use the search function and query 'nominate' too...

Okay, okay...several people have asked for this, so I have added a "no opinion" option (if you DO have an opinion about who should be winning an award, I'm hoping that you nominated accordingly). I hope it is used sparingly.

Went with Antrax/none/inquiry. I kind of wanted to vote for the chudecek thread even though I'd be trolling but inquiry put a lot of work into his so in case it mattered I voted for his thread.

Meh, I understand his feeling, I didn't want to vote for myself since it'd feel weird but if I did vote I'd want to vote for myself. I voted for you in the best poster thread though since I thought you were more deserving than me. Maybe it's a cop out to not vote but whatever.

I'm sure we can afford a separate thread for each vote. After all, we are printing the ballot papers using recycled electrons.

I see nothing wrong with Antrax or Justin or anyone else voting for themselves. They are merely evaluating and choosing, just like everyone else.

I'd like to vote for S2000Magic as best newcomer. Was something or somebody missed in the nomination phase?

I looked back over the nomination thread to make sure I didn't miss anything, and S2000magic was not in fact nominated; he only appeared in JLOGIC's list of members who joined after December 31 2010 and had at least 100 posts. I didn't consider that list a "blanket nomination", and therefore didn't include S2000magic in the poll. He would obviously have been a strong contender.

I can't vote because I do have an opinion but it's not in the list. For example lurpoa deserves to be in the list of newcomers imo. He/she definitely became famous on the forums. :D

I agree, I would have liked to see Lurpoa on the list, and s/he was nominated. Unfortunately s/he joined in November 2010. I suppose I could have grandfathered in some close cases like this, but rather than try and deal with my own potential biases I decided just to stick with the calendar year.
