Have you discussed what partner has for her 1N bid, and what do you do now?

Personally I pass. For me, 1N shows about 9-12 without Spade fit. Being somewhat old school I prefer partner to have a little something in Clubs, although I gather that the modernists are happy to assume that responder's failure to raise makes it safe to do it without. Anyway, I have the Ace so that doesn't really bother me.
Point being, that the 1N is for me a natural NF bid and I have nothing more to say that I didn't say on the previous round. I think it is a bit of a WTP to be honest. Would be interested to see if it is not unanimous what the reasons are.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).

For me when opener opened 1m and especially 1♣ I am not guaranting a stopper but one is implied since I don't have 3♠ and am not bidding my own 5 card+ suit. Anyhow I have about 8 to 11 HCP and no other call fits. Overcaller has allready told her story her with her average overcall and has a WTP pass of 1NT.

The consensus here will probably be that partner would like to play 1NT opposite a normal 1S overcall. Thinking any deeper into it with that hand which overcalled 1♠ is a waste of energy. What to do now? put down the dummy at the appropriate time, pass for the rest of the auction, and relax until next board unless required to defend.

This is what happened at the table, south got the blame for bidding 1nt.
We were E/W here and declining to get into a debate between N/S, I was asked to post the hand for opinions.

South got the blame by whom? North is on another planet.

My previous post, while perhaps a bit condescending, did establish a way for Norths of B/I level to look at situations like this. They will come up thousands of times.

South got the blame? Yikes! Even 1♠ fares poorly, equal or easily worse than 1nt.

North needs a lesson on etiquette and has just taken themselves out of the running for Ms. Congeniality. Please tell me these two aren't married.

Yup :) I've found that players who can willingly look at their own mistakes are quite rare,
however they many are ready to pounce on the mistakes, real or otherwise, of their partner.

This is East's fault for not X'ing with spades so locked up and with North known to be off their meds insane. The auction was completely normal until north lept to 3N.

that seems like as good a place to start as anywhere.

I assume you are joking. But, for the B/I forum I will clarify. Partner took no action over the 1S overcall, so if it weren't already obvious this double would ask for a spade lead.

I took the comment as pard should have doubled 1♠, not double 3nt for a ♠ lead since 3nt passed out is a disaster even without the double. My dyslexic error but I had a stress free day on 11/11/11. :blink:

Yep, we celebrated twice, that day: at 11:11 a.m. and 11:11 p.m., mountain time. Not that we really needed a reason to drink.
