Playing in the weds pairs game against very good opponents, you are using udca.

6 went around small to be won by west with the 10 and the J was led and held around to you. Partner pitched the 2. What do you pitch and why?

Edit: Added partners play to second round.

Did partner play the 2 on trick 2 or not? I'd probably pitch the 6. I think declarer is probably 4=4=2=3 and partner is 4=4=2=3, although if partner did pitch the 2 then he'd be 5=4=2=2 and the club is not longer a safish pitch. I think hearts is our source of tricks and diamonds are more important to hold to stop dummy's suit. But it is late and I don't feel strongly about this nor is it obvious to me. If he did play the 2 I might have to pitch the T in case partner is 55=2=1 with declarer QJT = 3 = 2 = 5.

I think declarer is 3424, noting the fact that partner didn´t bid majors over 1NT, he is more likelly to be 2-2 in the minors and have bad suits.

The 2 alternatives seem to be to pitch 2 hearts hoping not to be squeezed and that 10 and 9 stop the suits, and to pich just clubs and hope that partner has a heart honnot and we cancash them in time.

Partner has AQ, and has room for another 5-7 HCP I think the cash hearts line is more likelly to succed, so I´d pitch 6 abandoning the suit.

Ah well, guess there was no reasonable way I could have known to stop what happened, but it was still pretty impressive.

The full hand was.

After I played the 6, declarer checked our convention card and then played to drop partners Q doubleton. Partner got in and failed to break up the ensuing squeeze by leading a heart which doomed me twice in one hand.

210 was a pretty bad board even with the missed makable game.
