This is from a practice session with dumb bot. The thought crossed my mind that the double might not be legit, considering that the description includes "2C," which is obviously incorrect. On the bidding, though, it was possible that North held 4 diamonds, so I decided to trust the "biddable D" part of the description and let the double stand, with painful results.
I believe my 3♦ bid was proper, but wonder if that's what caused the problem. For some reason, no one else (as of the last time I looked) found the 3♦ bid, and no one else suffered the X from North.

That's a strange situation.
The book bid which GIB finds is X as cornered to bid something and don't find something else to fit directly as it's unsure you have spades fit and 1TP short to try 5♣.
Anyway after simulation it would not double, but picks something among Pass,4♠ or 5♣. More likely 4♠.
Was it basic robot?

It was a MBC hand: http://online.bridge...username=myprac
Oddly, the only two South-GIBs on the traveller made different decisions over 2NT:

Yes. He said "practice session with a dumb bot".
One of the things that makes dumb bots dumb is that they don't do simulations during the auction, they just use the book bids.
And in the MBC, different smart robots use different random hands in their simulations. In my test, the simulations are about evenly split between 3♣ and 3♦. I can understand this, since the ♥QJ9 is a dubious holding with RHO showing hearts.
