2? 3? How do I ask for a stopper? 3 otherwise, though it seems an underbid.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

3D seems fine opposite a 1-level neg double, pretending partner responded 1H. I wouldn't have those cues available in that unimpeded auction anyway, and partner will know whether she has a spade stopper and better than XX in diamonds without my asking.

The 2S cue should be a stronger directionless hand (JXX KX AKJXX AKX?) and 3S should be a self splinter with (say) a bit better diamond suit.

I like 2S, planning to choose between 3NT and 5D at my next turn.

If for whatever reason this hand is unsuitable for either 2S or 3S, I just rebid 5D immediately, though I admit it's not perfect. At least it shows an 8 1/2 or 9 trick hand with long diamonds, while the jump to 3D could be on a whole lot of different shapes with only 6 diamonds, inviting partner to e.g. rebid hearts with six of them.

This hand usually takes 9 tricks so I am happy to cue 2 now and will ask for a stopper later. If this will confuse pd I'd just ask for a stop now with 3 assuming you play that is what it means. This is MP and I don't want to give up on 3NT and we may have a slam. With all due respect to the others, I think 3 is an underbid with this hand worth almost 9 sure tricks.

South seems to be endplayed into bidding 3NT. The good news is that they probably won't lead a heart (although if they are not leading a heart you might as well be in 6 ;) ).

This hand is a fair way short of 9 sure tricks. If you do rebid 3, partner will know to bid 3NT with a spade stop and a partial diamond fit. Lacking either of those things, you'll probably be happier in 3.
