It looks like half the field got soaked on this one: deal #6 of Tournament #4947 Robot Duplicate Matchpoints 14:36 11/3/11.

(I have tried to figure out on my own how to post hand diagrams here and I am afraid I won't be able to do it without tutoring;
hopefully it is an easy ~3-click copy+paste routine that I have somehow missed)

pass 1(me) 1 X(Robot; negative)
2 3 pass 3NT
all pass

Robot had Jx and Jxx; down 3.

Robot's 3NT bid explanation included "likely" stop, but with both opponents bidding the suit,
and partner showing no interest in NT shouldn't 3NT here guarentee a stop? And with Jxx in suit rebid
by partner wouldn't 4 be the best bid with no actual stop?

PS I was able to edit OP. I believe deal link is now correct.

First link was fine- all you need.
GIB probably thinks there's only 40 pts Total points in a Hand by really its a big range from 40-136 so in given hand it assumes you must have a diamond cover with your 16 TP. How on Earth does GIB do simulations using Total Points as guide?

cloa513 is basically right. GIB thinks you have enough for game, and is taking a shot at 3NT. The comments in the rule file even say so:

; if you can't find anything better to do, take a chance on 3N with values,
; even without stoppers. Of course partner (and opponents) will assume you
; have them

I suspect the reason it's falling into this is that it's not taking the 3 bid as showing long clubs, notice 4+C in the description. It doesn't seem to be recognizing it as a free rebid of the same suit. Otherwise, it would have something "better to do": show its club support (if East passes and South jumps to 3, North cue bids 3).

We'll investigate this further.
