No only did the opponents bid the suit 3 times, but they also doubled your cue bid.

I wonder if it thought the 3NT bid was artificial, since it had already indicated a spade fit with its initial cue.

I'm sure that East thinks 2 shows extras, since EW already have suit agreement and West is not required to bid over the double. But 4 still seems better than 3N.
