yeah they played pretty well, if they didn't lose 18-19 IMPs for not playing 4M instead of 3NT all the time... :P

I was surprised to see that in the two USA1 v USA2 matches, this hand 5 J85432 A65 Q63 as dealer NV v V was passed twice. Jlogic was one of the passers. Should I be surprised?

no you should not be surprised he was dealer not 3rd seat with 2 passes to him :)

lol, the hand Fluffy is talking about I had AT 98xx xxx JT8x. It went 2N p and I bid 3N. I would do it again, it is just a philosophy I guess, it does add some randomness I guess but I have been that way my whole life, and think it's a winner.

interesting, the vugraph had them ruffing the club finesse and leading a heart.

I was curious why the declarers didn't give up a spade right away instead of leaving the 9 outstanding.

Wow, this hand was great:

This wasn't the auction, but with Justin declarer, and this was the play to the first tricks. I think that double dummy there's a double winkle here (at least I think that's what it's called) to make. South has to overtake the heart and lead another (sadly Justin didn't overtake the heart here, I thankfully had the easier time of seeing this double dummy and with GIB). Notice that both players have to hold onto 2 spades (or else he might be able to drop the Q or pin the T) and so they'll both be threatened with being endplayed in diamonds.

The other table was played by north, and the defense had an easier time.

Sorry man. Didn't mean to step on the life tilt. It's a pretty hand, but I'd rather miss it and be in fourth than make it and be in 10th. Keep it up, it's been great watching you so far.

Polish commentators/experts agreed that this play so far was something for the teaching books, and than.. forget it, you got enough VPs and the ex-juniors from Poland need some too heh:)

But Grue made 4 runnung KQJ pitching K. Only 4 declarers did, and I saw 2 other top tables playing the same a messing the end game, one of them even with biding evidence of where AQ were lieing.

Also 2 more things: First of all you couldn't make the hand double dummy, a trump shift at trick 2 put you down anyway. It was all a defensive mistake you let go.

Also remember that getting carry over against Italy might be worth a lot more than some VPs.

BTW On vugraph you unblocked everything right, then in the endgame the play froze and it ended in 1 down. No clue of what actually happened for you to block.
