I can use the windows version but cannot sign into the web based version...tells me when trying to connect, "connection lost"...I have taken the firewall off and cleaned cache...

I did get a new internet provider today but have used them before for BBO with no issues.

No idea what is going on?

Hello everybody!
I'm trying to play Bridge on BBO at work / /
The computer is corporate. Browser: Google Chrome. I've tried other browsers, but I can't install Adobe Flash Player (no administrative privileges on the computer). Can't install older version either.
When I write my login name and password, it says: "connecting... please wait", then it says "connection lost".
I've tried everything: allowing pop-ups, tagging bridgebase.com as allowed program, cleared the cache etc. The message is the same every time: "connection lost".
Can anybody give me a hint?

I have the same issue when I'm in my company's network (VPN or in the office), due to its firewall. You might be experiencing the same.

No. If you're interested, it should be fairly simple (on Windows netstat -an while BBO client is running) to find out which port you need opened (or just ask BBO), and then ask your workplace to open it.

The web version uses port 3336 normally. Try using this link: http://www.bridgebas...ent.php?port=80

The link didn't work either. And asking the network admin to open something for me to be able to play (while at work) is simply out of the question :)...
Seems I won't play bridge at work.

Your firewall may check the format of data on port 80. While that URL forces BBO to use the standard HTTP port, it doesn't use the HTTP protocol, so the firewall doesn't let it through.

Thanks for your time! But I'm a doctor, and that sounds like swahili to me.
So, as I'm really noobish with computers (// duh... gimme a button, I'll click on it), I'm just going to do what's easier for me: get my laptop and play.

It doesn't really matter if you understand it. The point is that your company's firewall doesn't allow BBO through.

And you're probably not going to get sympathy from your IT Dept, you're not supposed to play games at work.

It could work if there was a way to connect to BBO via https :)
