So many people have "precision" in their player profile, but which Precision system do they refer to? Asking bids or not? What response scheme? etc etc?

What is the 'standard' Precision system?

Ask them, not us.

My treatments are standard precision.
Yours are not.
This is pretty much what you'll get.
Pick a version and play that.
At least until you experience the weaknesses
you and partner agree to amend.

I bet many have it there mostly as a "look what I know" sort of thing.
Maybe it really is a suggestion to play it for players from countries where precision is common. For example, is there a "standard precision" in China that two Chinese pickup partners could play, and does this occur on bridgebase, and if so what is it? I'd be curious to know this too. Maybe it's like 2/1 in the US where you could agree to play it with "the standard gadgets" or not.

Precision System of Contract Bridge Bidding - by Charles Goren. The Chinese translation of this book is the most popular precision book in China. Most bridge players there play this version or subset of this version.

on BBO I assume:
1♣=16+
1♦=2+ (either real diamonds or 11-12 balanced)
1NT=13-15
2♣=6 or 5♣4M
2♦=4414 or 4405 or mayyyyybe (34)15
2M=weak
2N=22-23
followups: stayman transfers and stumble bunny system.

... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Here is a web address where you download and actually print out a number of precision system books including Goren, CC Wei- original book, Wei-Radin, Power Precision, Super Precision, etc. You can also access notes on more systems than you'll ever need to know.

In my opinion, the original system book by CC Wei (Cinderella team + system) is a must read if for no other reason than an historical perspective to show how much the system has and hasn't changed over the years, and what some of the long-time inherent problems have been. The original system was presented in 37 pages and, as one will discover, was very vague about certain areas. Some concepts are now outmoded by today's standards. Yet the system still works fine in it's original version.
There is no standard Precision system at this point. In fact, there now seems to be more adaptations and variants that a number of people are cautious about playing precision with a new partner due to concerns about misunderstandings. But, in my experience on BBO, most people seem to prefer either Wei or Goren's version, without the asking bids (their loss: I love them).
