After TD found a substitute for me I am reseated by server whenever I logged on back. After I have been subbed why I am expected to remain logged on until tournament done ? I simply needed a break for errands. I might even had an emergency or have been experienced a crash after I subbed.

How can the Director/system tell the difference between someone who had an errand/problem/etc and someone who just doesn't want to continue the tournament because of the partner s/he's playing with?

The software was conceived to help disconnected players rejoin the tourney as fast as possible. If you need to leave and do not wish to get back, call the TD and tell him to perm-sub you.

Dont start a tournament you are not prepared to complete.

Legitimate disconnects should be prepared to rejoin and complete all deals.

Computer problems/crashes etc. are often a lame excuse for folks having a bad game, not wanting to continue.

I would like to see BBO apply a penalty/ban on people who run out of tourneys.

TO ACBL JACKI, FRED, UDAY
Hey :)
After I am subbed several times by TD and permitted to be out of the tournament I do not want BBO Server automatically and continuously reseats me.
Thanks guys. Hope to meet y'all in Dinner party: Friday November 25th, 4:30 Seattle Time. Bye.

It sounds like either you didn't make your intent clear to the TD (your English isn't very good sometimes), or he made a mistake and didn't perm-sub you.

This sounds like the ACBL tournaments where disconected players are automatically reseated.

Even if you're not disconnected, but ask the TD to replace you?

There's something else I don't understand. He said he left the tourney because he had to run some errands. Most tourneys don't last very long -- ACBL tourneys are the longest, and they're only an hour. How was he able to run a bunch of errands, and then log back in while the tourney was still going on? Was the "errand" going to the kitchen to get a snack?

This is an unusual circumstance. Typically when a player asks to be replaced in a game it's because something has come up which makes it difficult to continue in that tournament. So to accommodate that player the TD will get a sub in and the replaced player will go off to do whatever he needs to do. However, unless that player is 'permanently subbed' and that player logs off and back on again, he will be returned to the tournament.

When a player disconnects, it's important to maintain the smooth flow of the tournament. Having the returning player tell the TD that he's back and wants to be reseated, having the TD ask the person who his partner is, or looking up that information takes away valuable time from (particularly) Speedballs. So Uday, recognizing the problem, tweaked the software to remember where the disconnected player should sit and just automatically return him to that seat. The end result was that the player was reseated without the need to contact the TD and use up minutes.

So, in the future if you need to leave but intend to log off and back on before the current game ends, tell the TD you will be doing that and ask that the substitute player be permanently assigned to your seat. There is a way for the directors to do this, but they need to know it's necessary.

Or another way to handle it is just to stay and finish the game.

Jacki :)
