Yes , i never said my pass will be perfect each and everytime, it was just my opinion to consider passing and indeed i wld pass. Although i know it is wrong to pass on this hand the way question was asked :)

why would I do that? 2NT was allready a stretch, if p thinks 3 is enough then it certainly is.

Im pretty sure pd doesnt expect his crappy Qxxxx+ to land on AKxx in hand full of controls.
If your pd would open 2nt would you bid 3nt on Qxxxxx ? Probably not
What if youd know he has AKx and your Qxxxxx just provides 3 extra tricks ? All would bid 3nt
same here pd x and bid 2nt and you with Qxxxxx and nothing else presume 3 is much better but if you would know your Qxxxxx , your 2 crappy points are in fact 6 tricks , 3nt is the better option.

I'm passing at the spead of light. My upside is win 1 or 2 on a REALLY good day and the downside is at least a dozen.

If we have a game, my pard already bid.

I would pass. This hand is not a 2NT bid. You have 5 tricks and that is it. If you double what is poor partner supposed to do with a 2443 shape? You want to play 3D in your 4-2 fit? Sure you may have a 4-4 C fit. You may well not though as well.

Clear pass imo.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

pass

Opener didn't pass 2 so he'll be short. This means partner will have some s but didn't Dbl 2 for penalties. Therefore partner is weak and we better pass.

Tataie asked
teams 2 alerted as nonforcing Playing with an expert friend . He passed. Can you ever consider passing this because I cant.

IMO 2N = 10, P = 9, _X = 6.
Pass is sensible. Anything else may be a charge into the valley of death. If you don't pass, you may prefer 2N to X because, when partner has nothing, you can struggle in 2N yourself rather than watch partner suffering in a 4-2 fit. Lacking relevant agreements, there are additional dangers. For example will partner treat 2N as natural or unusual? If natural, what do advancer's bids mean?

This rates to be a partscore at best. Pard may have 0 hcp, but he may easily have the 10, in which case this goes down no sweat.

If you can't stand to pass, by all means bid 2NT or 3 (there's a good chance pard has 4 of them), but pass is more likely to be your best bet here.
