From an Express tournament... I have no idea what West was thinking... Why is GIB underleading his ace?

Same thing from a robodup. Love the alerts. Note that North-GIB owes x a beer. :-)

Regarding the alert of X, I guess it just means "I have an Ace" (and maybe it would also double with KQ), which translates to "4+ HCP".
Not cashing the Ace in the second hand looks like greed. It thinks it has a 50/50 chance of scoring the Queen as well.

Yeah. Interestingly, out of 32 tables in 6NT, GIB led the ♠A 3 times, costing those declarers a lot of matchpoints.

Here's another variation on this theme, from a Robot Rebate tourney:
When the spade is led at trick 8, how can it be wrong to take the ace, the setting trick? If partner has the stiff king, he has to have a third heart, so you can give him a ruff for down 2. But if the layout is as it actually is, which is more likely from the auction, it can see that dummy's good club will provide a discard.
The strange thing is that those of us who stopped in 3 only made 3 (West shifted to a spade when it got in with the club) , but half the players who went to 4 were allowed to make it.

On the subject of not leading aces, there's a reference to it in Man vs Machine, when GIB was on lead against a small slam holding a cashing AK, and didn't lead it.
It would appear this bug has yet to be fixed...
