Two questions here...

Do you think you have enough to make a double/some other call?

... Say you pass over 3, LHO passes, and partner backs in with 3. What now?

Just because I wouldn't double doesn't mean I would pass. 3D seems like a fine bid.

Armed with the information that pard backs in with 3D if I pass, I can say I would have preferred to bid 3D instead of passing.

Since I chose to pass (reasonable), I am not well placed now. Pard's reopening is too wide-ranging to make a rational choice at this point. Will stick with the pass and hate it. If I feel like punishing pard for reopening, I guess I could try 3S which he will have no reason to believe is a game try with diamonds.

I am coming from pass, and i also passed 3, and pd saw them both still bidding 3.

I am aware onlything we make can be 3, but sometimes preempts win, i will show my fit. 4 or 4, probably 4.

He did not balance with DBL but that doesnt mean he is weak. A Axx AQJxxx xxx was he supposed to DBL with this ?

Another direct 3 bidder. This hand is worth only 1 bid and support is the only possible one, so that's what I do. If pard happens to have 4432... well though sht.

Really? 3 on this? I didn't think it was enough for anything here, but I guess I'm a bit paranoid... Meh.

I am with the immediate 3D bidders here. What do you think you need to bid 3D directly over 3C?
If I didn't bid 3D I would double (and pass 3H). Passing over 3C seems like a great way to concede a double partial swing at best.

3 is pretty clear IMO

Can't handle a 3 bid from partner if I X, but if I bid 3, if partner advances with 3 I bid 3 and if he advances with 3 I raise.

I can double here as part of a xfer scheme,
showing D-support and exploring values.
I have stronger fit bids and non-fit bids.
If I get 3S, 4S. 3NT, P. 3H, 3S.
That's about right on values I have.

That doesn't sound right. How do you find 4-4 fits in majors?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

** As I said and suggested as rebids, 3S -> 4S, 3H -> 3S, haven't we found 4-4M?
** Since X promises 4D is okay, these tries are clear.

Unfortunately I don't quite understand your post dake50.

I thought by transfer scheme you meant

X=4+
3=hearts
3=spades
3=clubs or balanced or something like that

Now if 3 and 3 promise 5 cards (in the respective major suits) and X promises 4 diamonds, what do you do with

Axxx
AKxx
xx
Jxx

?

How do you find a 4-4 fit?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
