They have been hunting me all through May and now, apparently, they are still here in June.

Ok, 7. They take the push to 7 -1100, which is great because there is a club loser (unless west leads his singleton :)).

What is your move?

Hand 1 7H seems a reasonable punt. You'll probably be guessing at some point anyway.

Hand 2 I bid 5D. Might make 6, might go down in 5

Opposite someone whose takeout doubles are for takeout, I'd bid 6. xx A10xx Kxx AKxx would be enough, and even if it's not making thay may save.

5 for me. bok bok bok

changed my mind. 6. I don't want to bid 5 and then have 5 come back to me.

On the second one, I tried a conservative 5 since I hated the three little clubs when RHO has implied something in the suit.
It went P-P-5 and then I bid 6. Comments on that? RHO is a very fine card player. His bidding is unreliable however, but he tends not to be totally out of line.

I agree with not defending 5 - either 5 or 6 might be making.

I'd slam 6 right away. It's a risk, but if partner can Dbl 4 then opps will certainly bid 5 over 5. So bidding 5 is rather useless and gives opps a better position to decide what to do after the postponed 6.

Directly 6 is a little to risky for me.
I'll go for 5,
and if they bid 5 ?

Partner had Kx, A9xxx, KQx, AQx. They led clubs but fortunately the king, so we wound up +1540. Whereagles had the right prediction from the start - well done. :)
Maybe inconsequent to bid 5 then 6, but the situation is tough. The opponents know more about the deal than I. Sometimes when we don't have so many tricks we might even play 5X. Anyway, I disagree with Free that the opponents will certainly bid 5. We don't know that. Bidding 5 over 5 is still something.

We know nothing for sure, but you know that they have at least 11s combined (partner makes a takeout Dbl so he should be short in , and we have a void). So while I have to admit that we're not 100% sure they'll bid 5, a better way to describe it is that I think it's very likely.
