EW playing 5-card Majors. 2 is 10+ hcp natural. 2 would've been non-forcing. IMP-pairs. Weak field.

I bidding the suit below the suit I'm actually showing not to be described as a "transfer" for the benefit of people unfamiliar with the concept of a transfer

What is 3S? Would 2S have been forcing?

2 is 100% non-forcing. 3 is something like 6 and 16-18hcp or so, but the East-West pair in question are a pair of little-old-ladies without much science to their system.

Does it say anything about suit quality? Sorry I'm not trying to be dense, I genuinely do not know the system so it's hard to come up with an answer. I think I would bid 4D based on the info given, it seems likely that we belong in 6D, and I have to rebid my good 7 bagger. If partner just signs off in 4S I'll pass.

Imagine the person sitting opposite is an irregular partner of low to moderate club duplicate standard who has never heard of the concept of 2/1 GF. One can assume that 3 is stronger than a non-forcing 2 and one can also eliminate some hand-types that would bid 3NT over 2 but beyond that you have little or no conventional agreements with partner and pretty much play seat-of-the-pants natural bidding.

In that case I guess I'll just bend over and bid 6.

4. I'm glad to have an agreement where this is natural, 4 being the artificial bid that shows a slammish spade raise.

4D - Should set trumps.

I may be tempted to pass 4S, but ..., nevertheless I did not yet show my
diamond suit.
The alternaative would be 4C - cue, showing a top honor in clubs, but this
is only a far distand second.

If I sit oppossie a LOL - I am still bidding 4D, I will pass 4S.

you could check for controls. You can be pretty sure they have that down.

If I can be sure partner takes 4 as forcing I will bid that. Otherwise I bid 5, I don't see why partner is likely to have three aces.

4 should be forcing but opposite this partner I will bid 5.

Given the sick parameters, 6 for me, also. Anything else is just delaying the decision until I hear something else that does not help me.

You can't bid 4C, she'll take that as Gerber :P

I agree with 4D but I like to think that I'm not at the same level as the partnership that held these hands. Therefore, my input is useless if you are trying to determine what the director should have done.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I wonder why u give such parameters, LOL and weak field, does it really matter; or is this some kind of a jocular anectode?
Anyway, prd seems to have quite many and more than minimum hand and after my 2 , she wants to be in a game contract. My hand aint that hot anymore; its aceless and i have only singleton .
4 and pass if prd bids 4 .

I know 4 is theoretically the best bid, but given the parameters I think that's no longer the case. If we bid 4, partner may take over and use Blacky ending up in 6. I know we want to play 6 most of the time, so if I want to avoid troubles at the cost of missing grand, I have to bid 6 now.

Well - you always have the option to bid 6D, if partner takes over with 4NT,
so you can delay the jump to 6D for one round, which may allow you to make a
more informed decision.
