Han's 2C-XX thread reminded me of a hand from yesterday's Italian championship vugraph:
1♥ 2♣ P P
X XX
How would you take this redouble undiscussed (with a good partner)?
Fantoni (I think) bid this way with something like Txxx AKx K AKxxx and after the next player passed Nunes scrambled with KQJx T98x xxxx x. Neat! So did the redouble show two places to play? Extras? Both? What does advancer do with a bust and 3-card club support - pass and pray?

Redbl should show a max hand or something like that. I don't think it makes much sense to rescue yourself...

I'm sure that Fantoni-Nunes have an agreement as to XX, but I'm not sure what it is.

I suspect a good hand but not a good suit.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

With no prior agreement, simply strenght.
I like han's ideé though.
I once tried to convince my partner to use such meanings in a lot of sequences, like:
1♣ - (4♥) - 4♠ - (X)
Now XX from both hands should show some extra strenght, but doubt about the denomination.
So here opener would typically have a misfit and a good club-suit for an XX, while responder would have secondary (or better) club-support, and a spade suit with deep losers.
Partner didn't bite, unfortunately.

We should always assume 2/1 unless otherwise stated, because:
- If the original poster didn't bother to state his system, that means that he thinks it's obvious what he's playing. The only people who think this are 2/1 players.
