4 if that's natural, otherwise 5. I lack the imagination for anything else.

If 4 is conventional I try 3NT.

No, 4 is natural for us, but even if it wasnt, i am not so thrilled with my T8x for 3 NT, to be honest Helen.

Hi,

I am not passing.

If 4C is an option, I am bidding this, if not, since
we agreed to play Non Leaping Michaels, 5C it is.

With kind regards
Marlowe

Since it's natural, I'd bid 4.

I'm going to pass this. 5 seems a long shot if pard can't find a balancing bid and for once I don't have the nerve to overcall 3NT.

If pard happens to come up with a bid over 3, I'm in good shape:

- Over dbl I might bid 4 or 5.
- Over 3 I have an easy 3.
- Over 3 I can either raise or bid 3 on the way to game.

If he passes I might miss a few games, but I'm willing to take that risk.

3N could easily be a winner even if the 3S bidder holds AK to 7 and many time you find your RHO with stiff S honor. Tidy contract facing Jx S and the AD perhaps KH. Most of my partners have fail to recognize Jx as a stop so 3N gets consideration. Is 4C so fabulous looking? Seems to me we have only 3 choices, pass 3N and 4C. 5C could go down when 3N is making. Good choice Helene and if that partner fails to supply the right dummy lets hope they can appreciate we got GUTS.

Pass.

5 needs a lot from partner, if we have them partner is likely to bid something anyway. Also we don't have high enough ODR to aim to win part-score battle, i think it is obvious that it is more likely that both 3 and 4 goes down comparing to both making. Besides LHO is in comfortable position to double us (or evalulate his hand better whether to bid 4 or not). And.. even if we have game, 3 will probably go down more than 1, so we can't talk about 37,5% game bidding.. not even close.

RHO opened 3. I don't understand this post. Even if RHO had opened 2, surely this is a wtp 3?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

At last there's a hand that I want to bid 4 over 3M and feel good about it.

Sorry, something came up while I was writting and I got distracted, thinking the opening was in clubs.

Still, I maintain that pass is my bid and that if pard acts over 3 I'm in good shape.
