Seems like 4♦ is a better choice then 4NT.
My partner could have bid 3♣ (GF in our system) iso 3♦.

Yeah, 4♦ is very descriptive and you could see the upcoming problem and bid 6♣ over 4♦.

I presume the K♥ wasn't stiff for an undeserved top.

4♦ seems just about perfect. 4NT (nat) also comes to mind.
