I came across this treatment at Louisville and I'm surprised I've never seen it before:
After 1♣ - pass - 1♠ - dbl;
redouble = many strong hands
1N = min with 3 card support
2♦ = max with 3 card support
2♥ = max with 4 card support (like a 2.5 spade call).
2♠ = min with 4 spades
This would have come in handy as we missed a good game before the dinner break of the swiss with KJxx x Ax KJTxxx across from Qxxx Ax Qxxxx Qx.

Interesting treatment after 4th seat x

what does a balanced hand with two spades, a max for not having opened 1n (in a strong nt context), and red stoppers do? something like xx KQx AJx KT9xx. Pass, I suppose?

Would you also miss this game if they don't double ?
I think this 6-4 hand is worth 3♠ easily (or w/e gadget you have in your system to show such hands, 2H allowing you to stop in 2S would come in handy).
I don't like this treatment because I think being able to bid natural 1NT is important.
If you play wide range openers (11-22) I think playing rdbl as strong is better than support showing though.

Seems interesting, but how about:
XX: Transfer to NT, may have strong hand
1N -> 2♣
2♣: Min with 3 card support (and shape)
2♦: Max with 3 card support
2♥: Max with 4 card support
2♠: Min with 4 card support

I play 1NT as support, and I think it's clearly better than support redoubles, except when it's love-all at matchpoints. It's wasteful to have two calls - pass and 1NT - both showing a weak notrump.
I've heard of support reverses, but never played them. If I did play them, I'd do it like this:
- Redouble = good hand
- 1NT = 3-card support, balanced
- Reverse = 3-card support, unbalanced. If there are two reverses available, you reverse in your side suit or fragment.
KJxx x Ax KJTxxx is easily worth a raise to 3♠ - you can't make the same bid with that and with KJxx xxx Axx KJT

... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Obviously the problem is systemic when you miss a game when one guy bids TWO SPADES on KJxx x Ax KJTxxx! lol. That hand would bid 3S even with your proposed treatment.

I also used to play redouble as strong and 1NT as support.
[still do after 1D P 1S x]
I play a jump to 2NT as a strong 4-card raise. This makes it easy to jump to 3S on distributional hands as a more pre-emptive bid.
