Hi,
I have .lin files from a class. What are the instructions for loading and playing these files?

Hi Val,
I think you need to download the old software. This works only if you have a PC (ie, non apple computer).
http://www.bridgebas...ide_for_bbo.php
Download here.
Then just open your lin file with the "netbridgevu.exe" program if prompted.
Ask your teacher if you need help. In your version of BBO, it would be faster if you had received just the handviewer URL of your hands, so you can replay them. But barring this, please download the old software for the netbridgevu.exe program.

Jilly, you mean web BBO users?
If you were using web BBO, and at the table, all finished hands can be "export deal" into URL or saved.
I like the URL method, which is why I suggested it in the first reply.
Either the teacher or student could have done this.
My guess is, Val's teacher didn't do this, but sent her the list of lin files after the lesson, which she could not open since she had new BBO.
If Val has a PC, she can download the old BBO for the netbridgevu file, and then she can open the lin hand files.
Alternatively, the teacher can send the hands as a website (handviewer links are incredibly easy to integrate anywhere), and then even if Val cannot or doesn't want to get old BBO software (say she has a mac, can't get it), she can still see the files.

I was using online BBO. I thought I had a downloaded version on my disk. I now have downloaded BBO and was able to load the .lin file but this sure was not easy. I used the Movie function on the Teaching Table. This function did not exist with the online version. You outlined an easier way, but I could not figure that out. Val
