Calling ACBLScore gurus

Hi all,
I want to run a teaching game where the students play 12 boards. What I'd like to have happen is that each table starts with two boards on it and pairs play those two boards but then all tables play a pre-arranged board as their third board (ie all tables play an identical board simultaneously). We would then stop to discuss that hand that they'd just played. The first two boards and the players would then all move as a normal Mitchell movement and then we'd do it all over again, playing a total of 4 rounds of 3. Any thoughts on how to build this movement into the system?

I know that this is not really useful, but I can tell you that you can't do this using the edit movement menu, as it won't let a board be played in two rounds simultaneously.
My primary suggestion is to not do this, and do a full barometer instead, if you have enough sets of boards.
Otherwise, if you are really set on doing this, you can manually assign scores to boards. What I mean is, say you have 5 tables, and you have all tables play board 3 at the same time. ACBLscore (if you set at three boards a round) thinks that the boards should be played:
NS vs. EW score
1 vs. 1 aaa
2 vs. 3 bbb
3 vs. 5 ccc
4 vs. 2 ddd
5 vs. 4 eee
But instead you had 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, etc...
You can manually enter this board using the special score command as you enter the boards, and assign the scores to the correct pair as so:
NS vs. EW NS score EW score
1 vs. 1 aaa -aaa (wouldn't have to be entered special)
2 vs. 3 bbb -ccc
3 vs. 5 ccc -eee
4 vs. 2 ddd -bbb
5 vs. 4 eee -ddd
where "-" means the opposite of the score on the traveler.
If you chose this method and need more help, let me know.
Also, I would do this on the boards divisible by three, and set up the rounds for three boards at a time. It just makes it easier to remember.
And the order would be different for boards 6, 9, etc, you would have to make sure that the NS write down the EW# they played against.

One cheap ugly workaround is to tell ACBLscore it's a normal Mitchell, but for boards 3, 6, 9 and 12, type in split scores, a whole lot of them, so that each NS and EW pair gets the result it actually got even if ACBLscore doesn't understand who played against whom.

I score kids tournaments for the School Bridge League and have found that I can set up any movement as a Barometer, edit the pairs and boards any old way and save it. It always tells me the movement is invalid but when I choose to ignore the errors it scores the event anyway.
I've managed to score a section from different schools combining 1 table that played all 6 boards with one that had 3 tables playing a 2 board Mitchell and everything in between.
From the look of it, you can set up a 12 board Barometer with 1 board per round, edit the pairs and boards, ignore the invalid movement message when you save the changes and carry on.
It works for combining 2 table Howell movements in their own section too.

I don't know the answer to the OP question, but I would point out that ACBLScore can do at least some things that aren't, technically, legal. Unfortunately, the ACBL position on this phenomenon is that they don't care, as long as they get their monthly vig.

Yep, and once when I got pulled over for speeding the cop just gave me a warning. I didn't complain about that either. Anyway, I know our phylosophy on these things differ so there's not much sense in beating that dead horse.
Thanks for the suggestions folks. Elianna, I tried your suggestion and it definitely works except when I set up a 5 table 4 round movement with 3 boards per round, the system thinks that board #3 is never played at table #2 and therefore there are two pairs that it won't allow me to input a score for. Any thoughts on overcoming that obstacle?

You should be able to set the system up as (say for 5 table Mitchell, 15 boards), 10 "rounds" - it would work better if it was an even number of boards/round, so that you don't have to play with a million "no plays", but for "rounds" 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, the boards are 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10; for even "rounds", the boards are the same in each round (11,21; 12,22, ... 15,25). EDMOV should allow you to do that, as it can set up the traditional three-table Howell (with a last-round all-table relay) and the relay-byestand (with the same boards played at two tables every round).
