How disciplined must a 3NT overcall be?

Matchpoints, intermediate/advanced field, not sure about these particular opps. You play Ghestem, week jump overcalls, and 3♠ would ask partner to bid 3NT with as little as JTxx in spades and out.
All red. RHO deals and opens 1♠.

If this is not a 3NT overcall, why not?
Would you bid differently if p was a passed hand?

The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

3NT asks little of partner. A single heart stopper and ♦Q makes it a certainty--and the ♦Q may drop even if pard is void. Plus this auction doesn't exactly scream for a heart lead. This is even more obvious if partner is a passed hand: in this case there is no chance of missing a slam. Even wih an unpassed partner, the chance of stealing 3nT when it could be set is greater than the unlikely slam chances.

I would simply bid 3NT at MP. Who knows. At IMPS it may be worthwile to investigate 6D, but here if you reach 5D and 4NT makes, that's a bad board.

3N. Even if it's possible to beat it, they haven't done so yet, and looking for anything else at MPs is silly IMO
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

classic example of a 3♥, generalised western cuebid.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Eh? 3H is weak, strong, or intermediate here, but it does show Hearts for most of the world.

much too strong for a 3NT... maybe you have 6♦ or 7♦ to play...
Am afraid that 2♦ will get passed out. So, my bid is Double, intending to rebid 3NT or ♦ depending on P's answer.
